Could not make that work. No errors, Therion just echos what is typed in the text string.

I only ever used it directly in the metapost (it's in my code for creating custom labels). In the .th, Therion turns everything into \char103 escape sequences. In the metapost, you have more control. I don't know of a way to inject tex control characters directly from a .th but I have no doubt someone else on this mailing list will know a lot more than me. You could create custom labels with your own string replacement to add your own control character, like <lb> instead of <br>, but that only works for symbols. Not sure how to do that for strings in the cave info.
