<p dir="ltr">I have been using a Galaxy Note 8 (with Topodroid and Distox) for over an year and a half and I am very happy with it. The screen is large enough for detailed and comfortable drawing and the digitiser is precise. </p>
<p dir="ltr">It is not waterproof or rugged, but I have solved this with a simple waterproof plastic pouch for tablets and a custom made hard carrying case. The pen itself is not waterproof, but with care it lasts long enough and replacements are very cheap on eBay. </p>
<p dir="ltr">I can post pictures of the setup in a couple of weeks when I  get back from caving. I think I have already posted them some time ago. </p>

PDAs are no longer produced and the supply of second hand PDAs must dry up at some point.<br>

There are already many Android devices that can do the job, just at a price most aren't willing to pay. But as time goes by they will appear cheaper on ebay.<br>

I notice the Galaxy Note GT-N7000 can be had for less than £100 on ebay. It has a proper digitiser.<br>
