Many thanks, Have just slotted it in before units and data within the centreline/endcentreline wrapper, and it works!

Thank you for helping me get this sorted.
 on your recommendation, I have not included an endgrade as there is no need.

No, it is like this:
UISv1_<level>

———-
centerline
        ...more stuff...
        grade UISv1_3

        units length meters
        units bearing gradient degrees
        data    normal  from    to      length  bearing gradient        left    right   up      down
        ...data follows...
endcenterline
