The structure of surveys and structure of maps are independent in therion.
You may combine one map from one cave with another map from second cave for
particular export. This is very good idea I think. So all maps definitions
are associated with the highest level of surveys.

I've written a php program to list all surveys which don't have an
associated map. It can be downloaded here

This was written for my dataset so may not work for you.
Essentially all my survey names take the form survey_name and the associated
maps are named surveyNamePlan or surveyNameElev300 so I am able to match
maps with surveys by searching for the combination of words in the name.
Give it a try and let me know how you get on. If it's OK I'll add it to the
Wiki.
