[Therion] Cave length discrepancy

For me it seems to be the norm once a cave becomes more than trivial.

I'm not 100% sure my reasoning is valid - any other ideas welcomed.
I had thought that there were discrepancies brought about by a hypothetical
bug in therion due to lengths or point continuations flagged 'explored',
'approx', 'duplicate' or 'surface' not being allocated correctly, but a
partial and informal test that I did seems to discount this.
Usually the pdf map reports a shorter length than the survey-list, but on
doing some testing with a particular project that had this behaviour I
managed to find a subset selection of maps where the pdf map reported a
longer length than the survey list for that subset survey-list.
