Therion 5.3.10 has been uploaded to debian unstable, and is now built
for all architectures:

I note that the patches for 5.3.9 which would be useful upstream have
not been merged into the source:
e.g. the therion.svg scaleable icon
the loch manpage
avoiding a segfault when no langugae is specified
loch double-buffering
build-system fixes: correct sample clean target

The patches can easily be reviewed here:

working, but not much has changed)

Perhaps some of this stuff has been fixed in different ways and these
patches are no longer relevant?

It would be good to have a smaller delta to maintain, and the .svg
file I think is particularly important to include (and would be very
nice to use on the splash screen)

5.3.10 will not progress into testing until after Wheezy has been
released (maybe around christmas?), and won't get into Ubuntu until
after Quantal is released end October. Hopefully that won't
inconvenience anyone much.
