In recent versions if you right-click or tap a station you can 
select ->data, ->map, ->outline or ->sideview, so that little problem goes
away.  I have had 5km of centreline survey and many splays in the same
folder and no problem toggling directly between the textual and pictorial
representations of any particular survey leg.  Not quite so versatile with
splay shots yet, but I think it is planned.
