usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lvtkjpeg
Hi all I have downloaded therion-0.5 and the compile fails with: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lvtkjpeg Searching on google brings up some references but nothing that seems right for my problem. Im compiling on an Dell Intel machine with Debian. I have installed: libvtk5 and libvtk5-dev The dev package contains the file: /usr/include/vtk-5.0/vtk_jpeg.h I have modified the Makefile for loch to find the VTK directory: #VTKPATH = /usr/local/include/vtk-5.0 #VTKLIBPATH = /usr/local/lib/vtk-5.0 VTKPATH = /usr/include/vtk-5.0 VTKLIBPATH = /usr/lib/vtk-5.0 otherwise it couldnt fin the VTK include directory. How do I get this vtkjpeg ? Mike Lake
I think if you don't have vtkjpeg, vtk uses system libs. I think you can just delete vtkjpeg. These are the vtk libs you need for loch. vtkHybrid vtkImaging vtkIO vtkGraphics vtkRendering vtkGenericFiltering vtkFiltering vtkCommon This may work or maynot work... If just deleting -lvtkjpeg from Makefile does not help, I see two other possibilities: 1. Compile VTK your self and link therion against this compilation. Usually vtkjpeg is created. 2. Link therion against libjpeg already present in your system. For this, you need to do following changes: * install libjpeg-devel package * in loch/lxImgIO.cxx:13 change #include <vtk_jpeg.h> to #include <libjpeg.h> (or whatever libjpeg header is - I have no idea.) * in Makefile replace -lvtkjpeg with -ljpeg S.

Check out the packaging used on therion 0.4.1 which is in debian experimental. This fixes up the makefiles so they work with Debian libraries. I am just about to migrate this to 0.5.0 Hmm, actually it seems 0.4.1 isn't in experimental. I really did think I uploaded it a month or so ago! Wonder what went wrong there. OK. I can confirm that the 0.4.1 makefile changes work for 0.5.0 too. I've repackaged it all using DBS now, to solve the wikidocs problem (that was why I didn't upload - I remember now). It doesn't work quite right yet - needs another hour or two of faffing and testing. So hopefully I'll be able to upload it somewhere useful in the next few days (It's not in svn yet).
