Station-names appendages removal within group endgroup block
With all the PocketTopo data I have been collecting it has been very convenient to use the station-names statement when adding it to my Therion dataset. Often this data connects to survey stations with different prefix/suffix's, but the station-name statement will mess up the typed in name. In the case of centrelines I can work around this by placing any such stations before the station-names statement. This does not work within scraps. I have been trying to use code like this within centrelines and within scraps station-names jh @jh # in scraps this is included in the scrap definition <refer to stations that need the prefix & suffix added> group station-names [] [] # temporarily clear the prefix & suffix <refer to stations with no, or with differing, prefix or suffix> endgroup Alas it does not seem to work, and it seems like it would be very helpful if it did. Is there a way to do this already, or could it be added. Regards Bruce
Currently, station-names is not handled by group-endgroup in centerlines. But you can switch station-names several times in centerline. E.g. station-names jh @jh ... here stations with prefixes station-names [] [] ... here stations without prefixes station-names jh @jh ... here stations again with prefixes Does it help you this way? station-names [] [] # temporarily clear the prefix & suffix

But you can switch station-names several times in centerline.
Thanks Stacho. That is simple, I didn't think of that. However my main difficultly for which I don't have a good workaround is within scraps. Any options there? Bruce

I have a not so good workaround. I have been leaving the stations out of scraps which do not fit the prevailing station-names prefix suffix. It is only workable because stations with differing prefixes tend to be a minority. Have used 5.3.7 a bit today. Seems to be going smoothly. Bruce
Sorry for the late answer Bruce, but you can use revise command in scraps, to change station-names in the scrap. See attached sample. HTH, S. On 7 May 2011 11:01, Bruce <dangle@tomo.co.nz> wrote:

Thanks Stacho That works perfectly, and it seems I can use it within the same scrap as many times as I like. Other than 'revise'-ing the 'extend' properties of centerlines as demonstrated by survex users some years ago on the forum I had never been able to find a way to make revise work, although from time to time I have had many situations where I thought it maybe useful. I did not think of using it within the object I wanted to change!
