Scaling the entire output
Hi, I am sure I am not the only person to have this need, so I must have missed an option or control somewhere, or just misunderstood how scaling works. I output the survey like this: base-scale 1 100 scale 1 100 That makes a page 104.5 x 56.8 cm. I need to send it to a printer company, for printing at A2 (59.4 cm longer dimension). If I were printing this myself, I would just tick the "scale to fit" box in the PDF app. But the printing company say that the PDF sheet size needs to match the A2 paper size. I can set: base-scale 1 176 scale 1 176 And that gets the survey right. But it renders the *legend* and any embedded map-image at the static width. I can set the size of the legend, but then it still draws everything as if it were the old non-scaled size. What I want to do is to scale the actual output, the same way that a PDF app's printing tickbox would. Is that possible? Cheers, Tarquin

Hi Tarquin I cannot help but think that this is just a matter of training the printer company, and not a feature worthy of taking up space in Therion. My experience is limited, but I have come across this, and all it took was for me to pay them a visit and explain better what I wanted or help them use their software. Bruce
Hi Tarquin, I completely agree with Bruce. This is a very easy job with a graphics app such as Photoshop or InDesign and is functionality that doesn't really need to be part of Therion itself. If you don't have anything suitable yourself, I suggest drawing a diagram showing how you want it to look, with dimensions for your re-sized PDF and its placement on the page, and take it with your PDF to a printer and explain. They may want to charge you a little more for doing the "editing", but it's literally 5 minutes work. Make sure they save the print-ready PDF on your memory card so that you can go back for extra copies when you need them. I've used Integrated Graphics in Barry to do this sort of thing before when I've needed exhibition handouts and they're very helpful. Mike

The easiest way for me is to use PDF24 "Change PDF page size", which does exactly what I need. (It also has a few other things like "Edit PDF" which lets me add annotations for a magazine who wants them on an illustration for an article.) I was mainly wondering if I had missed how scaling works, and whether there was already something in Therion's config options that made it actually scale the whole output. If there isn't, then there isn't, and I will make them a perfect PDF scaled to their needs. :)
