Further to my post a couple of days ago. I have found the problem with atlas page layouts. All of the parameters have to be explicitly specified, the redundant parameters are not calculated by Therion as is stated in the Therion book. This can be a bit tricky as most errors result in crash or an odd looking pdf. To help the process I've made myself a spreadsheet to calculate all of the parameters with different paper sizes and navigation pane parameters. I'll post it when finished if anyone is interested. Attached are a couple of layout config files that seem to work for me. (Actually the A2 is an A3, but you get the idea) Any feedback appreciated. I've been trying to get the tex code at the end of these files to give me north arrows in my atlas, to no avail. I'm a tex invalid I'm afraid. Looks too complicated for me. Bruce

You would need to redefine the \dopage{} macro in code tex-atlas section of the layout command, e.g. like this code tex-atlas \def\dopage{% \vbox{\centerline{\framed{\mapbox}} \bigskip \line{% \vbox to \ht\navbox{ \hbox{\size[20]\the\pagelabel \ifpagenumbering\space(\the\pagenum)\fi \space\size[16]\the\pagename} \ifpagenumbering \medskip \hbox{\qquad\qquad \vtop{% \hbox to 0pt{\hss\showpointer\pointerN\hss} \hbox to 0pt{\llap{\showpointer\pointerW\hskip0.7em}% \raise1pt\hbox to 0pt{\hss$\updownarrow$\hss}% \raise1pt\hbox to 0pt{\hss$\leftrightarrow$\hss}% \rlap{\hskip0.7em\showpointer\pointerE}} \hbox to 0pt{\hss\showpointer\pointerS\hss} }\qquad\qquad \vtop{ \def\arr{$\uparrow$} \showpointerlist\pointerU \def\arr{$\downarrow$} \showpointerlist\pointerD } } \fi \vss } \hss \vbox to \ht\navbox{ \ifnortharrow\hbox to 0pt{\hss\northarrow\qquad}\fi \vss \ifscalebar\hbox to 0pt{\hss\scalebar\qquad}\fi } \box\navbox } } } Martin

That works perfectly, and even keeps in place all the other customisations I've applied. I think there must be magic involved! (Don't think I'll be learning tex anytime soon) So if I add the following code, as I said, it all works fine.... code tex-atlas \atlastitlepages #adds title page and then map-comments, explorers, surveyors, drafters, copyright but leaves out cave length/depth \insertmaps \formattedlegend #adds legend only if it is turned on elsewhere What is involved in getting the atlastitlepages to print all on a single page and also include the cave length and depth? For that matter the legend as well? I'm thinking that an atlas on A1 or A2 paper would be good for our larger systems, but would only want to use a single page for all the peripheral information. What about adding the copyright data to the left of the north arrow on each atlas page? Sorry about all the questions. Bruce
