I've added another km or so - the go-on series. No real problems except that all the pillars were inside-out. I split it into two scraps instead of one huge one, thereby determining in which half the problem lay, but after much staring at it and checking line types and looking at debug mode and fixing various problems, I still can't see why it's confused. The problem scrap is goon_s2 and it goes wrong on its own as well as when processed as part of the big plan. There are no therion errors about overlapping outlines, although there is one red metapost entry in the list (what do those mean?) The set of files is at http://trilogy-gw.aleph1.co.uk/~wookey/files/terikan.tgz (no pics). As ever, clues welcome. Well, all your pillars are drawn in reverse sense. The yellow tick should allways point to free space! Like it is in pits or chimneys. In your case - it points to the insight of pillar. So in the pillar case - you should draw this line in CW sense. But checking reverse option for line for each line flowstone should help.

You have there one line with two identical points (no idea how this can happen in xtherion - it should not). In any case - new version will not fail in this case. It is just a problem of symbol set.

If you mean (mptextmp.mp) [60], it is bug in xtherion :) It should not be highlighted (this bug is also already removed).

The best clue for you would be probably new release. Most of the bugs you are still reporting are already removed and a lot of functionality you asked for is added. Unfortunately, it will be finished in about 2 or 3 weeks. But if you are using therion so intensivly, it would be probably better if I sent you current state of 0.3.6 by mail, and you will test it. It should save you some time... Regards, S.

doh!! I knew that really. I did have the feeling that I was missing something obvious, but I'm obvioously just becoming stupid in my old age. PArtly comes from drawing at 4am in the morning.

I did, yes. I had already noticed that clicking on it just produced an error :-)

OK - no problem. I'm happy to test a new one, and will continue with intensive use fora while yet (maybe not next week as I am in holland for work). I'll start doing cross-sections and text and elevations and things soon... Hmm. I just checked. I found one in goon_s1 that the wrong way round, but every pillar in goon_s2 (which is the one coming out wrong in the final plot) is correct (tick on the inside). I am talking about walls which make loops because they are surrounded by passage here, not actual calcite pillars/columns.

OK, that's fixed. thanx. This problem may have ben caused by my persistent 'xtherion hangs' problem. It happened several times drawing that section. I got really mad for a while until I learned to save my work every 5-10 mouse clicks so I never lose much. (at least saving is nice and fast :-) Xtherion ran for several hours hours last night without crashing once - that is the best for a long time! I have no idea why - I didn't do anything different. I have now downloaded the tcl and tk sources and will try building a version with '--disable-threads' to see if it helps. Do you know if this should be in the tk or tcl sources, or both? The line orientation in inner pillars is significant only for displaying of asymetrical walls (blocks, sand, ice), not for determining the inside of the passage. You have actually two crossing scrap borders in one scrap :-) MetaPost didn't notice it, which is really bad. This can't be improved at the level of MetaPost macros, because we use low-level built-in function to determine the line orientation. The enclosed picture shows the problematic connections. M.
