Thanks for pointing out. It should be fixed in the next version of therion. Please let me know if it will not work correctly. Best regards, S. On Mon, May 18, 2009 at 1:26 PM, Vasily Vl. Suhachev <v_su@inbox.ru> wrote:

Hi, I have a cave with a tree of 11 survey-files. There are 15 scraps in my survey. It works all well if I produce a Map in PDF-Format. But the kml-File makes a mistake. I see only some parts of the cave. First 3 parts are seen, fourth part isn`t seen, then only parts of the fifth and sixth are seen, the whole 7 part and so on. The first point (entrance) is fixed with UTM-Coordinates. What could be the reason? What is wrong? regards Markus
I wonder if you are describing the same problem I had. It would appear that Therion seems to be far more fussy about defining the inside and outside of the walls when I first started to generate .kml. The pdfs were fine but it got very confused on the kml. (which is strange as I would have thought the maths behind it would be the same.) At first I thought some of the cave was missing, but in the end it was just getting the inside and outside the wrong way round My first attempt looked like this, which could be described as you have http://ubss.org.uk/__transfer/Charterhouse_broken.kml A bit of checking and making sure the the ticks where on the outside (into rock) and then for the 'pilers' some of which where massive and crossed scrap boundaries, use of the line option -outline in solved it in the end. Some of the effects did not seem logical, in the end everything line had to be checked, but eventually I got http://ubss.org.uk/__transfer/Charterhouse.kml hope this helps Andrew Boldt, Markus wrote:

Did you happen to make any loch models with each set of data?
From your description your original data did not have the correct orientations on the wall lines. If this is the case I would expect the loch models to have exhibited similar aberrations to the kml files (did not observe your files, don't have a kml viewer). The pdf outputs seem to be very tolerant of some forms of careless drawing, so a successful pdf output does not mean the drawing is free of errors.

It seems to me that therion doesn't care about wall orientations at all. I also struggled with pillars in loch models, swapped around wall orientations but with no success. Then I set "-online in" for all pillars and finally got the desired result. Regards, Thoma

It does (sometimes therion is able to corret it). The principle is from beginning of mostly any line on left side is "air" and on right side is "bedrock". So correct way to draw walls of passage is counterclockwise. About loch: export model -fmt loch -o output/foo.lox m.
Thanks to all who have answered on my problem! Excuse for answering late, because over the weekend, I was not at home. Now it is clear for me and I`am sure that it will work in the next days. So, remember by drawing bigger caves; look for the orientation of the walls! At two places in "my" cave there are bigger pillars and they are drawn like cave, not as rock, like Thomas has discribed, but only in the .kml-File. That`s the indicator, I guess, that "my" problem should be the same as discribed. And it looks exactly like the exsamples of Andrew. regards Markus -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: therion-bounces@speleo.sk [mailto:therion-bounces@speleo.sk] Im Auftrag von Martin Sluka Gesendet: Freitag, 22. No I have not tried loch models as yet, as I am not sure what they are or what they are used for, more to learn I guess Andrew Bruce Mutton wrote:

Exactly, pdf interpreters are able to handle paths even outline in/out is not set properly, but others are not able to do it. Currently there is no algorithm in therion, that would set this attribute automatically. So you have to do it manually. If -outline in/out attributes for paths are set in therion correctly, it should export them in correct orientation, it does not depend on direction, in which you draw them. But you should also take care of wall drawing direction. In the case that your wall symbol has different left/right side (e.q. wall:sand). In xtherion the yellow tick should allways point inside the passage. I hope it is not a huge mess. Regards, S.
