"Passage height" question
Hello everyone - I have a question about the point type "Passage height". I am working on a map which has some ceiling heights under 1 foot. When I put in "-value [0.5 ft]", for example, it comes out on the map as zero, or "-value [1.5 ft]" comes out as 2. Is there a way to make those come out with the value given? There is a passage section which has a voice and light connection, about 35 feet long and 6 or 8 feet wide but only 6 inches high. It is not human passable, but we can talk through it. I want to indicate its height correctly. Thanks - Bill Gee
Take the metric system (cm, centimeters) and you will have no problems. greetings Markus ________________________________ Von: therion-bounces@speleo.sk im Auftrag von Bill Gee Gesendet: So 21.03.2010 20:12 An: 'List for Therion users' Betreff: [Therion] "Passage height" question Hello everyone - I have a question about the point type "Passage height". Hi Bill It seems your problem is just a rounded display value issue. I'm sure the 3d model will come out OK. What about using a label instead, eg Point label -text "This passage is 6 inches high" -scale m -align r Regards Bruce
From therionbook: value ◃ value of height, passage-height or altitude label or point dimensions height: according to the sign of the value (positive, negative or unsigned), this type of symbol represents chimney height, pit depth or step height in general. The numeric value can be optionally followed by ‘?’, if the value is presumed and units can be added (e.g. -value [40? ft]). passage-height: the following four forms of value are supported: +<number> (the height of the ceiling), -<number> (the depth of the floor or water depth), <number> (the distance between floor and ceiling) and [+<number> -<number>] (the distance to ceiling and distance to floor). units ◃ length units supported: meter[s], centimeter[s], inch[es], feet[s], yard[s] (also m, cm, in, ft, yd). Angle units supported: degree[s], minute[s] (also deg, min), grad[s], mil[s], percent[age] (clino only). A degree value may be entered in decimal notation (x.y) or in a special notation for degrees, minutes and seconds (deg [:min[:sec]]). So what to write there: passage-height -value [6 in] Martin On 21.3.2010, at 20:12, Bill Gee wrote:

Hi, Martin - You have an excellent idea here! I did not think of using alternate units. Unfortunately - it does not work. When I put "-value [6 in]" on a point and compile the map, it displays as zero. I suppose I could convert the entire map to inches. That would be a pain since there are also 40 foot ceilings in the cave. Could I put in something like "units dimensions feet, inches" in the centreline section? I would rather use metric, as someone suggested. I don't have that option on this map - all the data is in feet and tenths of a foot. Maybe the next cave I do will be in metric. This is question for authors of Therion. Are you here? :) Anyway the format of numers should be changeable - check the text editor (F1) Martin On 25.3.2010, at 0:23, Bill Gee wrote:
