line wall:pit AUT has a fill anomaly
Hi line wall:pit AUT has a fill anomaly similar to the debris blocks anomaly that was fixed with 5.3.9. The end symbol is not filled at the start of each line segment (used here to denote an entrance at the base of a surface cliff). Also, the shorter length of the thinner line looks good for a stand alone line, but when two lines are joined, as might commonly be the case, there is often a gap. Perhaps better if the thin line is closer to the same length as the thick line? And an idea for consideration. The above image suggests that the symbol size tweaking to match the line length might need its limits adjusting slightly. The contrast between biggest and smallest symbols seems a bit much to me -perhaps compensating a smaller maximum size with a longer 'blank' length at each end? And yes, I could resolve the size/gap issues by drawing one continuous line, but they cross multiple scraps in some places. Bruce

You may join a point of one line to point of second line, if this help. join line_a:3 line_b:0 join line_c:end line_d:21@survey_123 m.s.

join line_a:3 line_b:0
I had thought of that, but was too lazy to try it. So now I have tried it, indeed it joins the thick line smoothly (you have to look hard because my manual joins were pretty good to start with), but the thin line (which is part of the symbol) is somewhat predictably still left with the gaps and we still have 'big and small'as below. Bruce
My idea was opposite. Draw the line surface pit as one line in one of the scraps and add option -clip off. And join walls of another scraps to that line (surface pit). m. On Jun 21, 2012, at 10:17 PM, Bruce <bruce@tomo.co.nz> wrote:

Ah ha, that has possibilities, and would work - tricky where each of the entrances has three overlying lines though. (wall:invisible, ceiling-step, wall:pit -outline none) It becomes computer programming more than drawing to get the lines to overlie each other perfectly. Bruce
Hi Bruce! Thanks for the hints. I made some changes to the metapost code, according to your suggestions: -Last triangle is now filled too -Symbol size is now set to a fixed value (only distance between symbols is varied) -Thinner line is now of 'same length' as thick line (for straight lines). I hope this does not harm other usecases for this line, so any feedback is welcome! To include the new changes, copy the definition of the symbol l_wall_pit_AUT from the attached file in your layout. In the attached file, there is also a fix for the sand and clay patterns, which dit not fit nicely next to each other in the previous version (thanks to Dirk Peinelt for pointing that out). @Martin/Stacho: Could you include this update to the next therion release? Kind regards, Georg. On Thu, Jun 21, 2012 at 11:13 AM, Bruce <bruce@tomo.co.nz> wrote:

I'm sure I'm not the only person who has tried to create a test project to preview what all the symbols look like in a realistic cave survey. The fix mentioned for when clay and sand appear adjacent to each other is a good example of the sort of things you would want to have somewhere in such a test project. These test projects help debug symbol sets and customisations to symbols. So has anyone created a good one that they could share? My basic attempt at this is lacking a lot of things because I have not learned enough Therion yet to have experienced all the symbols and line type options. I discovered last week that line border has subtypes aplicable in line points: invisible and visible. Thbook: border: visible (default), invisible, temporary, presumed; So my borders of areas could be from one closed line only ! :) m.
