conversion vtopo/therion : .tro ->.th
Dear all This is my first message on the list. To introduce me, I mainly practice caving in the French Alps, around Grenoble. I discovered therion 1.5 years ago and really enjoy this soft. I apologize because I think this question is often submitted, but I did not find the answer on the archive of the list, neither on the wiki : I would like to make a synthesis on a medium cave (about 5km and 800 stations), and most of the former surveys have been done with Vtopo (a single 830 lines file .tro). Since Vtopo and therion syntaxes are quite similar for topographic survey, does anybody get a script to convert vtopo files (.tro) to therion file (.th) ? (I work under linux). Martin
First of all, sorry for late answer - I am on holidays right now. Once I have been working on import of centerline data from .tro files to therion 3D viewer, but I have not finished it. But importing centerline (conversion from .tro to .th file) should be much more easy. If you are still interested, I can have a look at it when I return home. If it will be few lines of code (as I believe), no problem to do it. Regards, S. Martin Gerbaux wrote:

Thanks Stacho for your answer and sorry for late response, I was on holidays too ;o) I think that having such a script shound be a good way to popularize Therion in France where most of the cavers use Virtual Topo. I have converted my .tro file with a couple of "grep" commands, but do not make a universal script. Since I calcultated that there can be up to 2304 ways to describe a measure in Vtopo (due to number of instruments for length, direction, slope, and the possibility to do direct or back measurements), one should make a more intelligent program with a combination of the 10 parameters available in Vtopo than my succesion of "grep". But sure, it will not be a huge program ! Martin PS : like Gilbert Fernandes, I think it would be nice if recent therion versions should be available in Ubuntu repository. The package should be done shortly. I'm not sure how long it will take from then to propagate to the Ubuntu repository. As soon as it is done, I will post a link to the package itself so waiting on the repository won't be necessary. Hopefully installing it directly will not conflict with installing it from the repository. Does anyone foresee any problems with this plan? -Jonny
