Re: [Therion] Translation to Portuguese
Hi Ladislav, Unfortunately I'm using a Windows box, and not a *nix machine. :( Is there another option without recompile the Therion? If I have to install a Linux, do you recommend any distribution? Hi Toni, If you are running Therion on *nix machine it is realy simple. This is for translation of map labels (from Therion book): - run 'perl process.pl export xx' in the 'thlang' Therion source subdirectory. This creates a file texts_xx.txt. This file is UTF-8 encoded. - edit the texts_xx.txt file. Add your translations at lines beginning with 'xx'. - run make update - compile Therion For translation of user interface repeat all steps in 'xtherion/lang' directory. L.B Ladislav Blazek napsal(a):

Hello,
I'm starting to use the Therion here in Brazil and saw that the software has only three languages available:
language es language en language cz
Is it possible to create a new language to Portuguese Brazil?
language pt_br
Of course I can help to translate all symbols to my native language.
Thanks!
Best Regards, -Toni

You just need to translate texts in the file 'texts_pt.txt'. Edit the file in utf-8 encoding. You may use 'texts_en.txt' as an inspiration. If there are local variants use pt_BR identifier in the beginning of the line. You could perhaps also add pt_PT variants. This translates all texts in the map output. If you would like, it's possible to translate also the user interface of XTherion, providing translations in 'xtexts_pt.txt' file, but that's much more work. If you send the translation, it'll be compiled in the next release. Cheers Martin

If you just want to run GNU/linux in order to do this translation then a live-CD is the way to do it - just boot your machine from the CD into Linux, having no effect whatsoever on your machine. Knoppix is the most famous of these but there are many other options too. I'd recommend the ubuntu live CD for example. Of course it would be good if you like it enough to actually install it on your machine, in which case there is a more serious question about which flavour might suit you. It depends on your expertise in computers, your hardware (if you have stuff that might or might not be supported), and if you are more concerned about freedom or convenience, pretty user interfaces vs. command-line efficiency, a wide choice of software vs. typical desktop applications, and so on. There is only one distribution in the world which includes Therion as standard. So if that is important to you then the choice is easy - Debian :-) Wookey -- Aleph One Ltd, Bottisham, CAMBRIDGE, CB5 9BA, UK Tel +44 (0) 1223 811679 work: http://www.aleph1.co.uk/ play: http://www.chaos.org.uk/~wookey/
