I considered one for a while but they are
just too big and awkward to handle though most caves I frequent. Sketching
would be great but unless you are mapping a big easy to walk through cave then I
don’t think a Toughbook would last two minutes. Also I’m not sure battery
life would be good enough for anything other than short sessions.
Dell Axim pda in an Otter
It would be interesting to here from
anyone who has tried a Toughbook as they can go for not a lot of money on Fleabay.
Won’t beat £15 for an Axim though and I now have enough Axim’s and
Otter boxes to last me for the rest of my active life all for less than £90. Let’s
hope those Zebedee things don’t work as that will have been a waste.

use Toughbooks for mapping
My caves are deeper than my pockets....
I almost bought one but decided to try a cheaper option first.

Hi,
Does anyone use a Panasonic toughbook for caving? Do you get the DistoX
data direct uploaded to Therion on a toughbook?
If so how well do they go underground and what other mapping tools do you use
with it?
