There are two features in Edit line menu, which may help much.
Trace line - a bit fuzzy, but may help.
Convert to curve - you may only click, click, click on contour of section and creating the Bezier's curves will do this feature.

It's a great deal of work, but I think the only way to really deal with it is
to build scraps of all the cross sections.
